Beautifully well done True Crime Drama is NOT for Kids.

Narcos is a very beautiful and well done show about the infamous Pablo Escobar. The acting is absolutely magnificent and the show was written very well. It stays true to the actual story and is something I personally very highly recommend. However, this show is not meant for children. It's very worthy of its TV-MA rating due to its heavy violence, nudity, sex, and gore. Even though it is all used appropriately to help viewers follow the story, it is way too much for children. They also use real archive footage of dead bodies and gore, which although helps get the point across to the viewer of just how brutal everything was, it is way too much, and should be saved until at least age 16.

Personally I really enjoyed Narcos, I originally started watching it only because Pedro Pascal. But I was genuinely interested after the first episode. I wouldn't say this is for kids but I also wouldn't say it would hurt if a mature teen (14+) watched it. I did get annoyed a lot from how much sex there was it was constant through out the series. (mostly season one) Literally the 2nd episode had I think around 5 sex scenes 2 were short 3 were in a row. The show is disturbing and there are many triggering things that happen, if you are a sensitive person to gore, violence, etc. You most likely will have a hard time watching it and might find yourself skipping through quite a few scenes. Though, those things are only there to capture exactly how bad things were. Most of these reviews say that theres too much drinking/drugs/smoking. Which of course there is it's about Pablo Escobar and all about cocaine. I highly recommend searching up what the story is about for a show before watching it lmao. Very interesting and I enjoyed it.

Immersive, disturbing cartel biopic: one of Netflix's best offerings.

"Narcos" is a highly realistic, riveting docudrama about the career of Pablo Escobar, the birth of his brutal Medellin cartel, and the jarring political turmoil which rattled Colombia amidst the war on drugs. The series is incredibly violent and crass, but it handles the content with respect. Through poignant performances, considerable factual accuracy, and moments real-life footage intercut with the rest of the show, "Narcos" is an honest, difficult-to-watch portrayal of the brutality of narcoterrorism and the enormous sacrifices made by Colombian/American law enforcement in the pursuit of justice. The first half of season one is steeped in narrative exposition, but once the facts are established, "Narcos" will have you on the edge of your seat. Though I grew to despise Escobar as the series progressed, "Narcos" is unabashedly nonpartisan. It portrays Escobar as loving father and husband, but makes certain to acknowledge that Escobar ordered the deaths of thousands of innocent people without batting an eye. "Narcos" never glorifies its violence. There are lengthy sequences during which large swaths of people (including cops, drug dealers, and innocent people) are gunned down. The bloodshed is never downplayed over or sterilized with glossy euphemisms: every death hurts. I can't help but praise the gorgeous cinematography on display in "Narcos". Creators Chris Brancato, Doug Miro, and Carlo Bernard pluck viewers from the comfort of their sofas and place them directly into the dense jungles and sweltering streets of Latin America. I feel that people who consume narcotics on a regular basis should watch this show, as it reveals how the drug industry destroys lives and poisons communities.

Gritty, Educational and Fantastic series

I watched the first two seasons of Narcos (and about to watch third) just because i thought it looked good. It ended up leading to a huge interest of the illegal drug trade, something which i think is extremely intresting and also sadly very real. With the new knowledge that i have gained, looking back on Narcos i believe that it is quite accurate (however in regard to the first two seasons the are some plotholes and things created and/or left out for dramatic purpose), and also very educational. However it is obviously a very mature series intended for mature people, with an insane (yet sadly realistic) amount of violence and murder, a lot of nudity, rape/gang rape and obviously drugs, being both used and sold, which can be obviously hard to watch. That being said, I do believe this is something worth watching especially for young adults like myself who are entering the real world, which is filled with drugs. It shows people the horrific industry which is funded when people by drugs such as cocaine - and yes Narcos isn't a representation of the drug industry today as it is set in the 80's/90's, but it still gives a lot of perspective - the drug trade nowadays is around three times bigger than when Narcos is set. This show (for me at least) has made me hate drugs such as cocaine, as its effect on people isn't worth the high, and i don't think that is a bad thing for young adults to think, which could result from watching Narcos. One of the only criticisms i have however (other than graphic violence and sex e.t.c) is that i find at times some of the drug lords can be slightly glorified depending on how you look at it. The reason I'm only putting Educational Value is because I don't think there's too much anything - it's a series about Pablo Escobar - what do you expect? But overall great series - well acted (in my opinion), very entertaining/ gripping (pretty well translated too) and also very educational :)

It is a good show but not for young kids

I am in love with this show but it is not for younger kids (tweens) there is strong language, sex, nudity and gang rape. I noticed the sex was a lot more prominent in the first and second season, there was only one sex scene in season 3. The show also has a lot of violence, and drugs. It is a show about drug cartels and narcotic trafficking.

animal cruelty and sex scenes

i really wanted to start watching more shows, but it’s always hard for me to keep watching if it is not entertaining at first. w/ narcos it was different, i did enjoy it but i found the animal cruelty(ep1ss1 where a dog is shot and you can hear the whimpering and the body, and ep2/ep3ss1 a cat is hanged by its throat and then shows pictures of it) and sexual scenes way too disturbing, especially the gang rape scene (where the girl is not only shown being raped but also on the floor shaking) i usually don’t mind violence or drug abuse but i probably won’t watch it again

Thrilling Storylines, Decent Drama

Narcos is a biographical crime drama about the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar and the Cali Cartel. It contains many suspenseful moments, decent drama and pretty good characters. It's written in a way that feels authentic and makes you kind of side with the bad guys.Violence is frequent and sometimes brutal. Many shootouts resulting in moderate amounts of blood. Certain violent acts result in more gory situations, such as a man getting ripped apart by bikes (briefly shown), point-blank shootings, repeated stabbings and explosions. A man opens a [fridge?] full of blood, gore and seperated limbs.Language is frequently heard in Spanish and English. Use of "f#!k", "wh*re", "b#!ch", "fa*ggot", "slu*t", "p!ss", "a$$hole" and "c#nt" are heard.Sexual content is very frequent in Season 1. One episode has 3 sex scenes back-to-back with some conversation. Some nudity, such as revealed breasts and rear nudity. A man attempts to rape a women.Drugs and alcohol is a primary focus of the show. The storylines are all about the cocaine trade. Displays of snorting cocaine, smoking weed and social drinking are present.

Not for kids

I am 16 and think it is a great show, with exceptional acting and I cant get enough of Pedro pascal. Although I mentally am not able to watch it anymore. It is horrendous. Not for kids at all. Sexual Assault, murder and frequent depictions of prolonged intense violence is abundant in Narcos. I am a very sensitive person but this should be over the top for anyone. I am not that into posting on the internet, but I do not want other kids to watch this. Thanks

Really Good Show and lots of history -nudity/sex

For a teen such as me this show is very informative and historic. Its a fun and interesting way for kids to learn about the Columbian Drug Cartel and the history of Escobar. I have been watching and everything is all good for teens except some of the sex (which can be skipped). Overall its an amazing show, concept, history, and if your teen can be mature and handle a little sex scenes that aren't too exposing then he/she will be fine.
